Main Sequence will likely run in the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur at York on August 22 followed by the Ladbrokes St Leger. David Lanigan’s Aldebaran colt lost his unbeaten record to Camelot in the Derby. Main Sequence also ran behind Imperial Monarch in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris horse race.
“It is not set in stone yet but we are looking at the Great Voltigeur and then the St Leger,” said Alan Cooper, racing manager to owners the Niarchos family. “That is not definite yet, but David is very happy with the horse and he has come out of his last race well. We'll take our time, there's still four weeks until the Voltigeur, a lot can happen, so we've plenty of time to decide.”
Earlier this month, David Lanigan chose to bypass Royal Ascot in favor of the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris. Tipsters and punters saw four racehorses from Britain compete in the French event including John Gosden’s Shantaram, and Henry Cecil's pair of All That Rules and King Of Dudes.
In other news, David Barron’s Pearl Secret will contend in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York on August 24. The unbeaten three-year-old will have his fifth career start and will make the leap from Listed class to Group One company on the Knavesmire.
