*For the second time in nearly a year, former TV star Maia Campbell, daughter of late novelist Bebe Moore Campbell, has surfaced in an online video in which she appears incoherent and out of control. [Scroll down to view.]
This time, the Takoma Park native was taped babbling nonsensical phrases to someone inside of a house, and later to anyone within earshot while pacing up and down a Los Angeles street.
Last September, she was caught on tape by an LA rapper who claimed she asked for crack cocaine in lieu of payment for appearing in his music video. [Scroll down to view.] In both recordings, she is disheveled and not making any sense with her speech.
In the media frenzy surrounding Campbell's first tape, at least one blogger denied claims that her behavior was drug induced. Columnist Robin Caldwell of blackweb2.0 said she suffers from schizophrenia, a mental disorder that makes it difficult to distinguish between real and unreal experiences.
But, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported last month that when police pulled over Campbell for erratic driving, a search of her vehicle turned up one vial of cocaine. She was later charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, driving without a license and a probation violation.
Campbell's mother, who died in November 2006 and was a New York Times best-selling author, spoke regularly about mental health issues and was the co-founder and national spokesperson of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Urban Los Angeles.
Campbell, 33, starred opposite LL Cool J in the sitcom "In the House," which aired on NBC, and later UPN, from 1995 through 1999.

I know that the article states that her mother passed away, but where is her father? Will the next step be the show " Intervention", since people in the hood want to exploit her?

Her mother died tragecially (brain tumor) a few years ago, this beautiful young lady is in pain..So sad indeed. Where is her father? The guy is getting kicks out of watching and witnessing the pain and the drug abuse. Bad Karma, he could help her and not further exploit her....
Its a shame but the world loves to kick you when your down.

I pray that God helps her. The individuals who tape her should be ashamed of themselves. Instead of video taping her, why didn't they try and get her some help? She is someone's daughter, sister, niece and she's a mother. It's obvious that she has a mental illness why didn't anyone help..... Again, I pray for Maia and asked that God protects her..
These people who taped her, should be ashamed thats black on black crime. Help this sister don't add to her troubles. It's clear that she has problems, so do whats right and if you see her around help her, so that she can get back to the shining star she once was please!!
I would like to ask everyone who sees this video to please pray for Maia in her time of need! We all have fallen short in our lives, this could have been one of our loved ones. Stop the exploitation of our people and lets start loving, uplifting, and encouraging one another. We as people have come to far for this! We are all one in God's eye! To the individual who taped this GOD is coming back sooner than you think (What will your response be to this exploitation of mankind when asked??????)

wow!!! very sad to see or black sister on drugs, this is your brain on drugs. someone has given her some bad stuff, and has mess her up, some of her people should see this and try to find her and get her some much needed help very very sad....
Ms. Maia Campbell DOES suffer from mental illness. She began to exhibit the signs in her late teens and in order to cope with the mental illness she turned to drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately her mother also tried for many years to get her the help that she needed, as did her father. My prayers are with Maia.
