The magical magnetic boy named Bogdan lives in Serbia and he is already a YouTube star. Metal objects like knives, forks and spoons stick to him. Even a heavy frying pan sticks to this child’s body.
His parents claim Bogdan is magnetic. However, non-magnetic objects like plates also stick to this boy.
A little over half a million bloggers are pushing this kid into stardom and many are wondering if the videos are faked.
It seems like it is time to bring in the scientists and see exactly what is going on.
Benjamin Radford, editor of the Skeptical Inquirer says the videos show the boy is not really magnetic, as he has to lean back slightly to prevent the silverware from falling off.
A University of California scientist in Berkeley, Gabor Somorjai, probably has the answer. Gabor says Bogdan’s skin has greasy oils that allow smooth objects to stick to his skin.
Several bloggers tell us another scientist, Elmar Kroner, Has a different opinion. He says the boy’s skin is very elastic and that allows smooth objects to stick to him. He compares this to the feet of a gecko that can climb walls and walk on a smooth ceiling.
A friend of mine quipped: maybe the kid just eats a lot of stick candy and doesn’t bother washing when he’s done eating. That’s yucky!
