Extra Notes: Legend says that a mother lived in a hut with her young daughter, Pinea. They were very poor. Pinea's mother had to work very hard and long hours to make ends meet. Pinea never helped her mother out at all. She spent most of her time playing in her back yard. Anytime her mother would ask her to do something Pinea could never find what she needed to complete the task. One day her mother was very sick and she asked Pinea to make her some food. After a while the mother thought she should go see what was taking so long with her food. As she passed a window in her hut she saw Pinea playing in the back yard. When the mother asked Pinea why she was not cooking the food she said that she could not find the spoon. Frustrated Pinea's mother told her daughter that she wished she would grow 1,000 eyes so that she could always find what she was looking for. Then she left her daughter playing outside and made herself something to eat. Later that night the mother realized that she had not seen her daughter since her angry outburst. As the days went on the mother got well again and still her daughter did not return. However there was a strange little plant growing in the spot she had last seen her daughter. The mother asked the people of the village about her daughter, but none of them had seen her. The mother thinking that her daughter had ran way hoped that she would come home soon. Then one day while she was working in the back yard she noticed that the leaves of the strange plant had uncoiled. Inside was a strange fruit that looked like a child's head with a 1,000 eyes. She named the plant Pineapple after her daughter.
