Trading card game Magic: the Gathering's “Return to Ravnica” continues with “Gatecrash,” the second set in the block. Though the set will not be officially released until Feb. 1, players can do some gatecrashing of their own and get their hands on the cards a week earlier with this weekend's pre-release events.
“Gatecrash” adds five more two-color guilds for players to choose, and pre-release packs have items unique to each guild:
Each Guild Prerelease Pack contains five Gatecrash booster packs, a guild-specific booster pack, a special alternate-art prerelease card unique to each guild, an achievement card, a Spindown life counter, a guild symbol sticker, and a letter from the guild's leader.
Magic: The Gathering pre-release events are happening worldwide, and you can find one near you on wizards.com. Players in south-central Pennsylvania can attend either in Altoona at Gatehouse Games or in State College at Comic Swap.
Besides this Jan. 26-27 pre-release, Wizards of the Coast is sponsoring “Gatecrash” events throughout the month of February. The Magic Online release for “Gatecrash” is Feb. 11, and the Pro Tour is Feb. 15-17. The official “game day” will be Feb. 23-24.
