Magic: The Gathering Event Decks Into the Breach

If Infect and Defile is the Mirrodin Besieged control Event Deck, Into the Breach plays the opposite role as an aggressive mini-version of a Kuldotha red template.

Into the Breach is a fast, all-in Mirran blowout that seeks to overwhelm the opponent quickly, backed up with a pile of burn that can be used to remove defenses or roast your foe directly.

The Into the Breach Event Deck is a Standard legal 60-card deck that comes ready to be played right out of the box, complete with a 15 card sideboard.

With a MSRP of $24.99, these Event Decks are designed to provide a player with a deck that can be played at Friday Night Magic with its "casual-competitive" atmosphere.

Let's take a look at the Into The Breach Event Deck decklist, previewed today by the esoteric Monty Ashley over at the Magic Arcana.

Into the Breach is a deck that truly plays itself, likely making it the better of the two Mirrodin Besieged Event Decks for players looking to jump right into Friday Night Magic.

You'll need to get rid of the single Iron Myr, he's sort of hanging out wondering what the deal is, and pop a few more Goblin Guides in there, but Into the Breach is the framework for a real-deal Kuldotha red competitive deck.

Into the Breach is one of those decks that can "just win" with the right draw and timing against almost anything you can throw at it - You'll have your opponent dead long before they can get whatever strategy they plan to use online.

This makes it an exceptionally good deck for entry level FNM and casual play, as you'll still have a shot against decks that are far more expensive.

Into the Breach will straight up shred any Mirrodin Besieged Intro Pack and clean up the kitchen table against the players running decks composed of "whatever blue rares were in my binder".  Can it compete in Friday Night Magic?  That all depends on what kind of FNM your local store environment is.

If it's a bunch of Tier 1 decks all week every week, this is still a good starting point but don't expect to waltz in and win.  If it's more what FNM is conceptually "supposed" to be, this Into the Breach is actually really solid.  It's great for the price, too - but expect the price of Goblin Guides to decrease a bit as this deck allows players to pick up multiple copies easily.

Like Infect and Defile, we're excited that these decks are actually very playable.  They're not going to be winning any Pro Tours, but as an entry level product for a casual competitive environment we think they fulfill a player's needs admirably.
