There isn’t a new Nikita tonight. Actually, there isn’t a new Nikita for quite a few nights, as we have come upon that dreaded holiday hiatus. However, the show is still up and running, production-wise, in Toronto, and series star Maggie Q promised there would be a lot of big, exciting moments to tune back in for in the new year. Just how big and exciting? Well, how about a nearly naked Dillon Casey, as well as an even deeper, darker truth about Cassandra (Helena Mattsson), and a three-episode game-changing arc? Here are some details straight from the titular star herself.
Relationships will be mending. First with Mikita, who Q says there is “definitely” hope for despite Cassandra’s presence, but also for Nikita and Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca): “You'll see them come back together and then you'll see them split apart again. [Alex]'s on a path. She's young and figuring it out…You are going to see them work together again. It's going to be lovely. There's such an older-sister-younger-sister dynamic that goes on. It's nice, and you're going to see some nice, tender moments with them too.”
Dillon Casey’s Sean Pierce will be more and more used, and in different ways, including for a little eye-candy. “He's naked in the whole episode [2.12], in the one that we just finished,” Q teased. “There were a couple women on set that were debating because he would wear suits all the time-- bets on how his body was underneath. I was like, ‘I'm not partaking in this. I'm not attracted to Dillon. I'm not doing this.’ They were like, ‘No, no. He's got arms for sure.’ Whatever. Anyway, he strips down completely to his underwear for the whole episode. His body is amazing. I was like, ‘Whoa, I'm shocked. OK, I lost.’ Not that I bet against him, but…”
Similarly, fan favorite Ryan (Noah Bean) will be around for more, too, and this time he’s branching into new territory. “She still doesn't know that he's alive!” Q laughed, talking about Nikita. “He's [Amanda's] little whipping boy at the moment. I love working with him so much. He's so funny because he came back, has been captured by them and now he's underground and he's like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, I'm not working with you anymore? Wait.’ Because he never worked with anyone else but me!”
Maybe a little action for Amanda (Melinda Clarke)? We all know she gets her jollies by beating on subordinates. She even seemed to have a bit too much fun tackling Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford) leading up to the fall finale, but what about a more traditional, if not conventional relationship? Q admitted she feels the show is eluding to a potential Amanda/Percy (Xander Berkeley) dynamic that goes a bit above and beyond their clenched-teeth professional dynamic.
Episodes 2.11 through 2.13 will be a huge, explosive arc that sets up a new beginning for a number of the characters. “Everything seems to be converging and the impending implosion will happen…Episode 13 is called "Clean Sweep." So, 14 is a rebirth of everything that just exploded,” Q was careful not to say too much of how, though she admitted there she only “wishes” there would be a shocking death to come out of it. “By the end of the season, yes, absolutely it seems like it,” she quickly added, regarding deaths.
Can't wait for the return already? Sound off in the comments below with what you're most missing about the show and how you'll get yourself through this hiatus.
Nikita airs on The CW on Friday nights at 8pm, returning in January 2012 with all new episodes.
