Maggiano's Little Italy opened its 46th location early last week at The Mall in Columbia in Maryland. This makes the fifth location in the D.C. metro area after Annapolis, Chevy Chase, MD, Tyson's Corner, VA and Washington, D.C.President of Maggiano's, Steve Provost, was on site for the opening. He welcomed media and lunch guests with a warm excitement. The 257-seat dining room was well attended for the lunchtime opening.
The Columbia restaurant brings over 150 new jobs to the area.
Maggiano's continues to serve its classic and contemporary Italian-American recipes featuring homemade pastas, regular specials, and desserts - all of which is made from scratch daily. Appetizers like the lump crab cakes, sautéed and baked, the crispy zucchini served with a lemon aioli dipping sauce, and the chopped salad with blue cheese, avocado, diced tomato and crispy prosciutto are available for individual ordering as well as family style. They make mouth-watering openers to the main stars on the Maggiano's menu such as the Rigatoni D., Salmon Oscar, and Lasagna, of which the brand's restaurants sells a few hundred a day.
Guests around the country enjoy the family style option at Maggiano's as well as the generous portions that they often take home. Named the "Nation's Favorite Casual Dining Restaurant Chain" in the 2013 national survey by Market Force is proof. Maggiano's unique and long-standing "Today & Tomorrow" promotion, now restructured as its "On The House Classic Pastas" menu, also helps. When guests order from the "On The House Classic Pastas" menu, they can choose from one of eight classic dishes to enjoy today in the restaurant and chose a second dish to take home to enjoy later.
Since that original 2009 promotion, Maggiano's has given away more than 11 million "On The House Classic Pastas", compliments of the Chef.
Taking into consideration the growing number of gluten sensitive diners, Maggiano's offers gluten-free pastas nationwide. In addition, all of the restaurant's sauces are handcrafted, devoid of gluten ingredients. To be sure that they are taking care of food-sensitive guests, the in-house chefs will walk to a guest's table to find out where they need to carefully modify dishes in order to meet a guest's diet specifications.
For the calorie-conscious guests, the Columbia location offers a lighter take on a couple of the kitchen's classic dishes such as the fettucine alfredo and the chicken parmesan. Refreshingly, the chicken parmesan retains its flavor and "mouth feel" which often get lost when you reduce calories. Both dishes are made with one-third fewer calories. The Columbia location is one of the first to offer this 'lighter take' menu.
Overall, the Columbia Maggiano's brings with it that classic menu that patrons have grown to love and expanded options to welcome an even larger dining demographic.
