The 3rd Maggiano’s Little Italy for the state of Maryland is now open at the Mall in Columbia. The other two locations in the state are Annapolis and Chevy Chase. Flanked by the managing partners of the Columbia location and state delegates, Steve Provost, President of Maggiano’s, cut the pasta ribbon signifying the official opening of the restaurant. Customers and media alike filled the restaurant for lunch.
Earlier, Maggiano’s did a friends and family dinners to get systems operational, made-to-order dishes flowing at a good pace and an opportunity to raise over $6,000 for Make A Wish Foundation on beverages ordered.
Numerous friends were excited to find out there is a Maggiano’s close to the Baltimore region. Many have dined at the Tyson, Virginia or Philadelphia locations. I’m not normally an advocate for chain restaurants although Maggiano’s Little Italy has their act together with tasty, quality food and affordable prices. As part of the media, I had the good fortune to taste many of the culinary offerings.
On any given night, guests will see Chef Delano serving up a diverse array of signature pastas and baked specialties like Maggiano’s Famous Rigatoni “D” as well as rotating seasonal dishes. The kitchen is also one of the first to offer the brand’s new ‘Lighter Take’ menu which features new preparations of classic dishes including Chicken Parmesan and Fettuccine Alfredo, delivering the same flavors and generous portions with at least one-third fewer calories. At our media table we got to taste the Lighter Take Chicken Parmesan and it was well executed and enjoyed by all at the table.
Maggiano’s Little Italy in Columbia offers extensive choices inclusive of the traditional Italian American cuisine along with crab cakes and salmon Oscar. Guests can order a la carte or the table can choose to go with the 3 course family style offerings with refillable platters (three varying price points). Maggiano’s is family-oriented offering a kid’s menu of eight entrees.
In Italian homes you never leave hungry, the grandmother (Nonna) would pack goodies for you to take home and it is the same at with Maggiano’s Classic Pasta menu. Guests can choose from a selection of the handmade pastas and baked specialties to enjoy in the restaurant and choose a second dish to take home to enjoy the next day at home or work, compliments of the chef.
For those at the mall on their way home from work or shopping can stop by and get carry-out, there is actually a very nice alcove set up for carry-out and Maggiano’s product purchases. They also do delivery in the immediate area. Check out their happy hour offerings.
