MAFMC meets in April to plan future of Atlantic fishing

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council announced on Friday, March 21 that it will conduct three days of meetings.

The council will meet between Tuesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 10 at the Montauk Yacht Club, 32 Star Island Road, Montauk, NY 11954.

The event starts Tuesday afternoon when the River Herring & Shad Committee meets, followed by an Executive Committee meeting to discuss Magnuson-Stevens reauthorization.

The full council convenes Wednesday morning to discuss matters such as stock assessment, tilefish management for 2015-17, the Deep Sea Coral Amendment, the Marine Recreational Information Program and establishing a baseline of spatial fishing revenue along the Atlantic coast.

The day concludes with an hour of listening to the public at 5 pm.

On Thursday, the council reconvenes to discuss the Standardized Bycatch Reporting Methodology Amendment., an Industry-Funded Monitoring Omnibus Amendment, organizational reports, the New England and South Atlantic liaison reports, the executive director's report, the Science
Report and committee reports. The council may also conduct other business.
