No stranger to controversy, Madonna comes under fire once again, after she was caught using a racial slur on her Instagram page.

The superstar uploaded a photo of her son Rocco (her only child with director Guy Ritchie), fighting in a boxing ring, along with the caption, “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out!”, and then a variation of the N-word at the end. The comment was quickly deleted, amid outrage from users. In a statement with Associated Press, she apologized for using the word, stating that it was not used as a slur, and also admitted to there being no way in defending the word.

This happens to not be the first time Madonna had caused a stir sharing photos of her son on Instagram. She previously came under fire during New Year’s, for posting a photo of Rocco and friends holding up bottles of liquor, which prompted questions over Madonna’s online parenting skills. She defended that action as a joke, writing “no one was drinking. We were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humour! Don’t start the year off with judgment.”

Along with son Rocco, Madonna is also mother to daughter Lourdes from fitness trainer Carlos Leon, and has two adopted children Mercy and David.
