Madonna to Present Anderson Cooper With Award

Madonna is to present broadcaster Anderson Cooper with a GLAAD award at a ceremony in New York on March 16.

The accolade, short for Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, recognizes the media for their representation of the community with various categories ranging from movies to TV journalism and newspaper & magazine articles.

Madonna has publicly supported gay rights a number of times in the past and has appeared on such shows as "Ellen" to speak about the bullying of gay teens.

Cooper gave permission in July 2012 to journalist Andrew Sullivan to publish an e-mail in which Cooper said he was gay, and he will receive the Vito Russo award, named after a founding member of GLAAD, joining the likes of Ricky Martin, Rosie O'Donnell and RuPaul, who have also been awarded this honor.

Madonna's latest album, "MDNA", was released in 2012 on the Interscope Records label.
