This morning, it was announced that Madonna has been chosen to present Anderson Cooper with a GLADD award on March 16. Both Anderson and Madonna are big fans of each other, so the choice of Madonna giving the award makes sense.
Cooper declined to speak publicly about his sexuality for years. However, he recently gave blogger Andrew Sullivan permission to publish an email in which Cooper said he was gay and couldn't be more happy. We couldn't be more happy for Mr. Cooper.
Madonna has been an idol to the gay community for years. In the 1980s, when gay people were being treated worse than terrorists were being treated this past decade, Madonna took a risky stance against homophobia and embraced the gay community. Her vocal support of the gay community garnered her a lot of criticism, but she ended up being "in the right."
