In an Oct. 5 article from Sky News, it was reported that singer and megastar Madonna revealed in the November issue of Harper's Bazaar, that The Material Girl was raped at knifepoint during the early days of her career after moving to New York City.
"The first year, I was held up at gunpoint," she writes.
"Raped on the roof of a building I was dragged up to with a knife in my back, and had my apartment broken into three times. I don't know why; I had nothing of value after they took my radio the first time."
And although she admitted to be "scared s***less and freaked out" during those early days in the Big Apple, she remained "’defiant’ and hell-bent on surviving and on making it.”
Madonna’s essay also touched on her marriage to director Guy Ritchie and their time living in England, and then returned full circle back to NYC with the music mogul now the celebrity mother of four kids.
"Ten years later, here I am, divorced and living in New York. I have been blessed with four amazing children.
"I try to teach them to think outside the box.”
