For the last three years it has seemed as if The Queen of Pop was a title that Madonna earned through her career, and that the prestigious crown was actually now firmly on the head of Lady Gaga. I always said to those claiming that Lady Gaga is the Queen of Pop now: "I want to see Lady Gaga 20 years from now if she still exists and making music with #1 hits worldwide than we will decide if she is the Queen of Pop..." Madonna used the 2012 Super Bowl to remind everyone that the game is hers and that she is still the best pop star we've got, and any young pretender, no matter how provocative/ambitious/creative/colorful is going to have to work a whole lot harder for a whole lot longer to even get near the ball.
The queen of pop has set October 24 2012 date at Toyota Center. Tickets go on sale February 27 but expect prices to be steep.
According to Billboard, this will be Madonna's "most extensive tour ever in terms of number of dates."
Her last tour, Sticky & Sweet, grossed $408 million, the highest ever for a solo artist and third-highest of all time.
The new world tour will play 26 European markets before hitting North America beginning August 28 in Philadelphia. The tour will likely end up one of the most successful in history.
Madonna's 13th studio album, MDNA, is due March 26. Lifetime Legacy members of Icon, Madonna's official fan club, will receive first access to tickets and VIP Packages starting today. Registered free Icon members will have the opportunity to purchase an Icon Live Pass, which gives them access to ticket and VIP Package pre-sales.
