Princess Beatrice has attended the premiere of Madonna's directorial debut, semi-historical royal movie W.E. The London premiere took place at the Leicester Square Odeon on Wednesday evening, January 11, and Princess Beatrice was spotted at the post-screening party. Princess Beatrice was photographed climbing into a taxi with a friend; she wore a leather jacket to keep her warm against the cold January night, and flashed a smile to the waiting cameras.
Madonna spoke with several members of the British Royal Family, including Prince Edward, Princess Michael of Kent, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, to vet her new movie for accuracy. The story juxtaposes two love stories—that of Wallis Simpson with the former King Edward VIII—against a modern-day woman's (Abbie Cornish) obsession with the couple and her affair with a Russian security guard. The movie stars Andrea Riseborough and James D'Arcy and premiered at the Venice Film Festival last September. (Story continues below.)
Madonna, who is 53 and doesn't look it, first showed up at a photo call for the movie, wearing a 80s-style bodice dress, fingerless “biker” gloves and Coco Chanel bling, then attended the premiere and post-screening party. This was a double celebration for Madonna who, on her official website, had just announced a 12th studio album, M.D.N.A., and a new tour.
British Royal Family movie W.E. will release to a general audience on January 20.
