So Madonna latest album, MDNA was not a huge seller, selling less than a million copies. However, the singer shined big on other realms.
Forbes Magazine issued their annual list of the highest earning celebrities, and Madonna came out on top. She ranked in an estimated $125 million between June 2012 and June 2013. Most of that success was due to her latest tour, which grossed $305 million, though according to MSN.com, fans that did attended were more interested in classics such as “Vouge”, “Like a Prayer”, and “Like a Virgin”, than her latest work. Even so, the MDNA tour still earned Madonna the Top Touring Award at the Billboard Music Awards. She has also generated money from merchandise sales including a clothing line, and fragrance and investments in companies such as Vita Coco.
Forbes Magazine has also mentioned that Madonna has earned more money than when she previously appeared on the list. In fact, it was pointed out that the singer’s $110 million estimate in 2009, comes close to the $125 million that made her the top earner for 2013. The Celebrity 100 list is compiled from talks with agents, managers, and producers, and entertainment-related earnings span between June 2012 and June 2013. Director Steven Spielberg, 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James, television personality Simon Cowell and radio host Howard Stern rounds out the top five.
