Madonna may be 54, but she can work social media as well as her teen pop rivals. Just days after joining Instagram, Madonna thrilled fans by posting several racy photos, including one that showcased her taut butt under-cleavage and toned thighs.
In the snapshot posted Feb. 13, Madonna is photographed from the back as she dons black lingerie and fishnet tights. In the accompanying caption, Madonna explained that she was in the middle of editing footage of all her live performances.
In other Instagram photos uploaded earlier this week, Madonna shows off the sweat from her chin and cleavage during a tough workout. In still another, the mom of four drinks a vodka martini while striking an intriguing pose.
While she's at an age when most celebrities are considered past their prime, Madonna has shifted into overdrive. In 2012, Madonna had the highest-grossing tour of the year, raking in a whopping $228.4 million for her MDNA world tour.
Madonna's relentless drive and discipline are at the heart of her success. Madonna, a longtime fitness fanatic, typically works out two hours a day. In addition to lifting weights, doing Pilates, cardio and yoga workouts, she also trains with her back-up dancers, and performs at night.
While getting older is inevitable, Madonna has emphatically stated she has no intention of letting herself go with age. "I'm not going to slow down, get off this ride, stay home and get fat!" she said.
"It's all about hard work. There is no easy way [to be fit]. If you want to know how I look like I do, it's diet and exercise and constantly being careful."
Fitness has been an obsession since Madonna began seriously working out in her late twenties. The mom of four (two biological and two adopted children) said exercise makes her feel better about herself.
"My whole life is in a constant state of disarray, and the one thing that doesn't change is the workout," she once said. "If I had nothing to do, I would stay in the gym forever. It's a great place to work out aggression, or, if you're feeling depressed about something, you get on the LifeCycle [exercise bike] and you forget it.
"If you've failed in every way in your day, you've accomplished one thing: You've gotten through your workout and you're not a total piece of sh*t."
