Madness, death and now possibly jail for eight cast and crew of Dudleytown Curse – the 49th Key. That is what you could expect if you fool around with the centuries old curse. Still, one has to admire the intrepid nature, if not the sanity of Team Dtown.
The team, led by co-impresarios Doug and Melinda Kirkpatrick were accused of first-degree criminal trespass. Why does Sam Cooke’s “workin’ on the chain gang” come to mind.
Did that stop our courageous band? Mais, non. They found a rather creepy abandoned foundation at Brimfield in Massachusetts and continued to film the legend. The Boston Film Industry Examiner caught up with them at the foundation last Saturday evening. We refused to be part of the odyssey to Dtown, wisely so, as it turns out.
After filming, everyone retired to the Kirkpatrick’s home and all the actors introduced themselves to our camera along with the irrepressible John Harman, director of photography. It is an engaging crew. James Gifford, Kerri Lynch, Emily King and Ben Wheeler talk about their part in the movie and where they are as actors and actresses.
It is bad enough we in New England live in a world chronicled by H.P. Lovecraft. Now there is prison to contemplate as well. Don’t worry, we’ll see the movie before they do hard time.
