Des Moines pop band Madison Ray and All the Single Ladies will play an album release show at Wooly's (504 East Locust Street in Des Moines) on Friday, January 4. Ames rock and rollers Deadnote and Des Moines folk rock band The River Monks will be opening the show. Doors at the East Village venue will open at 7 p.m., and the music will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $7, and they may be purchased at the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly. This concert will be open to all ages.
Madison Ray is one of the brightest talents in Des Moines. Ray and the band were named RAW Des Moines' "Musicians of the Year". But Madison Ray has more going than just the band. Earlier this year, Ray entered the fashion world, collaborating with Elena Flores to release the LOVE fashion line. Ray is also active in the theater world, having played the role of Tom Collins at the Des Moines Playhouse production of 'Rent'.
Madison Ray and All the Single Ladies highlight Ray's soulful singing talents, blending pop, jazz, soul, blues, funk, and rock into what they call "stanque" pop. The band released an EP called The Revolution: Vol. 1 in 2010. Now the band will debut their first full-length album, Starship to Mars, at Wooly's on Friday night. Starship to Mars will officially hit stores the next day. Check out the trailer for the album in the nearby video box.
