According to a report by Crunchyroll Madhouse has decided to put Satoshi Kon's final film on hiatus due to inadequate funds. Yoshimi Itazu acted was the character designer before later taking over as director after Kon passed away in November 2010. Madhouse's CEO Masao Maruyama stated confirmed only 600 of 1,500 shots were finished, and the film will need to find new investment if it is to be completed. “I do want to go ahead with Dreaming Machine… I don’t care how many years it’s going to take; I will get the financing required to complete the title,” said Maruyama at this year's Otakon.
