A new website has created a lot of buzz lately because of where their products are made…in the United States (US). Made in the USA has more than than 350,000 US based companies that are encouraging consumers to “be American and buy American.” The creators of the website want to ensure that jobs stay in the US rather than sent overseas.
One company listed on the site…Mountain and Sackett on Long Island, makes ties. Each tie takes about 1 ½ hours to make by hand. They employ 50 people who stitch meticulously 40 hours a week. Mountain and Sackett has had to be creative over the past few decades with many companies going outside the country to have their products made. Americans value US hand-made products. John Mountain one of the owners of Mountain and Sackett registered their business for free on the Made in USA website.
The Made in the USA website includes furniture, pet supplies, clothing, and wine. The website is free for US companies to apply. Over 7,000 people have signed up on the site as a “US Patriot”…consumers who want to buy American made products.
There are several companies from Utah on the list including Salt companies, Movie and Production companies, creators of maps, and fitness clothing designers.
