Made in China

Politicians in Washington DC are bickering over the economy, deficit reduction and common sense budget to jump-start job creation. But listening to Sunday morning national TV talk shows where political pundits/experts air out their best or 'know-it-all-solutions' to American problems, explains why Washington is off the mark and chronically out of touch with American concerns. The real issue and root cause of all problems befalling cities and towns across the United States is the closing down of manufacturing companies and small factories that supplied them with essential parts that made them relevant. With factories gone there are no jobs and therefore kiosks, restaurants, corner stores, and small businesses primarily relied on these economic fabric disappeared, subsequently house foreclosures skyrocketed in the neighborhoods. Main street Americans understand it and know where the jobs went - CHINA. Why is it obvious?

Nothing essential around the house does not say "made in China." Even beads used for the St Patrick's day all came from China.

Knowing this, how then can Washington debate day in and day out compromised budget will bring jobs back? Few leaders from both parties understand the real solution is to bring back factories that make daily essentials for American households and not imported plastics from China. Until then China markets are unfalteringly blossoming 24/7 raking every dollar from American stores in turn fattening Chinese banks, which (ironically) turn round to re-load American debts.

In East side St Paul, Minnesota, a one time vibrant middle class neighborhood which sprawled out to Maple wood township, was economically supported by factories that mushroomed and stretched from Dayton Bluff to across highway 61. Many of them , either belonged to 3M or connected to them. Now this section of the city of St Paul has the highest number of foreclosures in Minnesota. It may not appear among the top ten metro area foreclosures in USA, but will be very close.

The 3M closed down many of its affiliated manufacturing factories and moved some to Texas, others fell victims of "made in China."

No politician, be it republican or democrat or independent will change current economic distress unless factories are revived and start "made in USA" again.

Americans must raise their voices loud and clear, same manner they did when it was discovered that USA Olympic team was wearing "made in China" ceremonial uniforms in London besmirching American pride. Same outcry is needed to shake Washington to reality and be reminded (once) again American interest is at stake.

America, Washington cannot do it if you do not speak. AND start by supporting "made in USA." Walk the talk.
