Maddow hires Ted Williams to read parts of Constitution the GOP left out (Video)

Today the Republicans opened up the 112th Congress by reading the United States Constitution aloud in the House of Representatives.  The move was largely seen as a gesture to the Tea Party that helped Republicans gain their majority in the House.  Republican have promised to return to the principles of the Constitution in their time in power.  However, critics quickly noted that the Republicans edited out some portions of the Constitution which they felt were unacceptable or controversial.  Tonight Rachel Maddow tried to correct the Republicans censorship by having Ted Williams, the now famous homeless man with an "amazing God-given voice," to read the parts of the Constitution the GOP left out.

Williams, who has become an immediate sensation after being discovered via You Tube, has now been hired by MSNBC as part of their "Lean Forward" campaign.  Maddow had Williams use his golden voice to read the following provisions Republicans left out of their reading.

Article I, Section 2

"Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons"

Article IV, Section 4

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence."

The 18th Amendment

"After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited."

The Republicans left out the Article I, Section 2 and the 18th Amendment because these provisions were deemed too controversial, and also were later overruled by subsequent amendments.  Article IV, Section 4 was not read because the pages representatives were reading got stuck together.

  • And the REST of the story 1 year ago

As nice as this story sounds, Ted is a long time criminal and dead beat father of 8 kids.
A drug and alcohol addict who abandoned his children.

    Not a nice man.

Someone has to keep it real.

I just hope this opportunity sticks and he again becomes a productive member of society and helps out his neglected children.

Notice the tone Witt has taken since the devastating loss on 11-2. Notice the tone of the LSM and the stories.
    Rabid dogs all.
