Madden simulation predicts Ravens to win Super Bowl (Photos)

Arguably the biggest event of the year when it comes to American sports, Super Bowl XLVII between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens is set to be played this Sunday. Earlier today, however, EA Sports revealed the winner of their yearly simulation of the game on Madden NFL 13.

In a clip released on the official EA Sports YouTube channel and embedded below, the Ravens lead the Niners 27-24 with just 17 seconds left on the clock. San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick drops back to pass and throws a long ball to Randy Moss in the end-zone. After a dramatic cutaway, it shows that Ravens safety Ed Reed came down with it in a game-winning interception. Ravens win.

The 49ers are currently favored to win the game in real life but some of the more superstitious fans might now disagree with that considering the Madden simulation has correctly predicted seven of the last nine Super Bowl winners.

“It’s been uncanny how spot-on the Super Bowl simulation been the last few years,” Senior Director of Marketing for EA Sports Anthony Stevenson said in an article appearing on The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve run simulations throughout the playoffs as well and we’ve certainly done better than analysts have. This highlights how great of a gameplay engine the Madden franchise has and how realistic it is.”
