"Madden NFL 25" sold more than one million copies in its first week on the retail market and was the highest selling game in North America for August, Electronic Arts said in a press release on Thursday.
According to EA, fans played nearly 6 million hours of "Madden NFL 25" in Week One, the equivalent of more than 600 consecutive years and opened more than 3.3 million packs in Ultimate Team mode, the most in any single week since Ultimate Team was introduced in "Madden NFL 10."
Amazon Director of Video Games John Love also confirmed that the game is the best-selling pre-order title in the website's history.
With additions to the franchise mode and an improved running game, as well as improvements to the Infinity Engine 2, "Madden 25" has earned several stellar reviews and currently owns a 80/100 score from critics aggregator Metacritic.
“The strong start for Madden NFL 25 on current generation consoles is a testament to the power of this amazing franchise and its fans," Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of EA SPORTS said in the release. “It’s a big year for our fans as we launch "Madden NFL 25" for two different hardware generations, and we're pleased with the early results for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
