Electronic Arts teased an announcement about the next game in the "Madden" series recently, unveiling the logo for this years installment of the series. Today they decided to go ahead and officially announce that the next game in the series is titled "Madden NFL 25."
The reason for "Madden 25" instead of "Madden 14" is to help celebrate the franchise reaching twenty five years in the hands of gamers around the world. When you think about, that's a lot of "Madden" and a lot of video game football being played. The first "Madden" game appeared in 1988, for the Apple 2 computer.
EA will be kicking off fan voting for the cover athlete of "Madden NFL 25" on March 11. The voting will have two 32 player brackets on both ESPN and SportsNation. One bracket will have all time great players, the other bracket will feature 32 modern player. SportsNation will air a special episode on March 11 to unveil both brackets.
In the last twenty five years, the "Madden" franchise has made Electronic Arts "more then 3.7 billion in net revenue." So you can understand why, as stale as the franchise has been getting according to players and critics, EA will continue to push out new games.
