It’s Thursday, April 04, and the Round Three results has been added and now final. After a tough and rugged week of voting, Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote can move on to the quarterfinals. The event is now down to eight players. These eight players are considered the best of the best, still standing. The fans have now cast over 35 million votes throughout this campaign. Over 5 million votes have been added since the end of Round Two.
The ESPN SportsNation Cover Vote is proving to be a valuable commodity to EA SPORTS and for Madden NFL football fans alike. Those numbers don’t lie. The voter participation in this event has spoken very loudly and will continue to rise as the Cover Vote moves through the quarterfinals. Compare this year's event against last year, and the comparison doesn’t even come close.
The remaining eight players are considered the true superstars of the past and present. For the quarterfinals, the Old-School bracket will now have two legends of the past. Joe Montana will be going against Barry Sanders. What a battle that’s going to be. If you’re a fan of the QB spot; do you vote for Montana? Or, if you’re a fan of the fabulous running game; do you vote for Sanders? It’s going to be a hard one to call. Both players are Hall of Famers.
The other two legends of the Old-School bracket is Jerry Rice going up against Deion Sanders. What a matchup. You have one of the greatest NFL receivers known to mankind in Jerry Rice. This player caught and held on to more passes in his career—than a fat man catching a nap, after a big meal. Deion “Prime-Time” Sanders is known as a game changer. He could change an entire game in one play, whether he’s playing offense or defense. There has never been a bigger threat to any team in the history of the sport, than Sanders. Who do you choose? Both players are inductees in the Hall of Fame.
This new generation of superstars has proved to be right on pace with some of the old legends. Here is how the New-School bracket will go into the quarterfinals. Arian Foster will do battle against Russell Wilson. These two players have heated up the charts with remarkable staying power. Some pundits and fans had Colin Kaepernick entering the quarterfinals in place of Arian Foster. It was a big shocker for some, when he lost out, but not for all. Foster started to pick up momentum after Round Two. Foster vs. Wilson will be exciting to watch as it plays out.
Last, but definitely not the least, is the New-School bracket superstars: Robert Griffin III going against Adrian Peterson to claim the front cover page. These two exciting players have earned marquee names in the NFL already. RG3 is a rookie quarterback on a mission. Make no-mistake, if it wasn’t for his knee injury at the beginning of the playoffs, there’s no telling where the Washington Redskins' season could have ended up. RG3 still has a chance, but—Adrian Peterson and how he runs the football is going to make it really hard.
Peterson seems to have all the goods working in his favor. He’s been one of the vote leaders since the beginning of this event. Peterson bounced back from a devastating torn ACL and MCL injury. What he accomplished on the field this past season as a running back, was nothing short of a miracle. Especially, with such little recovery time. Peterson is still highly regarded by many as the favorite, and still has a good chance of winning it all.
EA SPORTS installment of 'Madden NFL 25' will be in stores on August 27. The video sports game will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
