'Mad Men's' January Jones is going bald: Her hair is coming out in clumps

Mad Men” star January Jones is losing her hair. She reports in a recent interview that her hair is falling out in "clumps." According to SWR on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, the actress is going bald and it is due to the constant use of hair dyes for all the different roles she’s played during her career.

January's role of Betty Draper on “Mad Men” keeps the 35-year-old as a blonde, but the other roles she’s played for movies have called for her to dye her hair to become a brunette and a redhead. Today all the treatments that have been given to January’s hair to create just the right look to fit the roles she was playing have taken its toll.

January told the British magazine Grazia Daily, "I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps." She was at the Sundance Film Festival as a blonde recently when she sat down for an interview with the magazine. January was at Sundance for the preview of her latest movie, “Sweetwater.”

While January claims she likes all the different colors because it makes her feel different for the parts she is playing, she prefers to be a blonde. “My son recognizes me in photos when I am a blonde. He says Mama,” January said to the interviewer.

For “Sweetwater” January needed to make many changes in her hair color. "I've been blonde, red with extensions for this film, then blonde, then black, and now blonde again. I'm going to have to shave it off and wear a wig." Jones is not the first notable name to suffer hair loss due to over coloring their hair. Kelly Osbourne is another TV personality who suffered hair loss for the same reason of too many hair color changes.
