"Mad Men" will have a final season soon, but it's really going to be more like half of one and two of them. KTVN.com reported on Sept. 17, 2013, that AMC is going to air the final season over the span of two years. The series has 14 more episodes to go, but they are going to be shown with seven in 2014 and the final seven in 2015.
Actually, seven episodes will air in the spring of 2014 and the other seven sometime in 2015. The past seasons of "Mad Men" have gone only 13 episodes so fans get one more for the ending.
This not a totally new move by AMC as they did the same with "Breaking Bad" for its final season. It was split up into two eight-episode runs that started last summer and then again this summer. It wasn't a bad move whatsoever because it brought about record ratings for the series as it gets close to its series finale on Sept. 29, 2013.
AMC is hoping the same can be said to happen for the final season of "Mad Men."
“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” series creator Matthew Weiner said in a statement.
"Mad Men" is on its way to its final season, but has won four Emmy awards for outstanding drama series since its premiere back in 2007.
