Mad Max: Fury Road footage debuts
Warner Bros. Pictures

Today, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the Comic-Con footage online.

The action-packed trailer features over-the-top stunts and a crazy cast of characters for Max to do battle with on the road. It looks exactly what a Mad Max film should look like in the new millennium.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” is the fourth installment in the popular apocalytptic series “Mad Max.” The film stars Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) as the titular hero and Charlize Theron (“Prometheus”) as Furiousa. George Miller who has directed every film in the series directs the film.

It’s been a bumpy road to “Fury Road” as the film suffered production delays and at one time was left in the dust in terms of its schedule and was running over budget, forcing Warner Bros. to send studio representatives to oversee the film.

From the looks of the trailer, the production troubles did not harm the quality of the film not one bit.

Fans have been yearning for a new film in the series, the last installment “Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome” released almost three decades ago in 1985.

This and Hollywood’s current appetite for post-apocalyptic films, makes it the perfect time for the anti-hero Max to return to the big screen.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” drives into theaters May 15, 2015.
