Mad Antz Week at the Red Cross: free tickets for donors

It's March in Indiana, a time for high school championships, the Big Ten tourney, and bracket pools for the NCAA tournament! And it's also a great time to take adventage of another blood donation deal. The Red Cross is celebrating Mad Antz week, and from March 8 through March 14 blood donors will receive two free tickets to a Mad Antz game.

AND free donuts!!!

Blood donation saves lives. There is still no man-made substance that can replace donated human blood in many medical circumstances. In an article described in Science Daily, Nicola Lasetera of Case Western University said that 38% of americans are eligible to donate blood, but only 8% actually donate. She said most people donate blood after emergencies and natural disasters occur, but most blood is actually needed for people with chronic conditions, such as cancer.

Take, for example, the story of Sami Gray. Sami developed neuroblastoma at the age of 13 months. Thanks to aggressive treatment including 34 transfusions of donated platelets, Sami overcame her nervous system cancer, has graduated from pre-kindergarten, and is ready to attend kindergarten next fall. But back to the free offers. This week blood donors at the Red Cross or Lutheran Hospital blood drives will get two free tickets to the March16 game, featuring the Mad Ants vs. the Maine Red Claws. They will also be entered into a drawing for two courtside tickets to the game. The March 16th game will be Red Cross night at the Mad Antz, and blood can be donated between 6 and 9 PM. The Maine Red Claws have the D-leagues leading scorer, Morris Almond. It should be a good game, and it's guaranteed to be a good time.

Donation schedules at the Red Cross Facility and Lutheran Hospital are as follows:
