The holidays will be alive in Cincinnati this year with many joyful events to occur with the Cincinnati Symphony and the Pops Orchestra this season. The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra on December 14, will present “Macy’s Yes Virginia”. This musical is based on letter to editor in 1897 in which a 8 year old girl Virginia O’Hanlon wrote the New York Sun in New York City asking if Santa Claus existed. This story was animated in a 2009 CBS holiday special. This year the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, lead by John Morris Russell will perform a semi-staged version of this classic with singers and actors.
Other celebrations this season will be Anne Callaway headlining the annual Holiday Pops concerts series on December 13, 14, 15 with John Morris Russell. Amy Grant pop musical artist with husband Vince Gill country music star will have a special one night performance on December 17. Handel’s Messiah will be performed on December 22, 2013 with the CSO. Also the CSO will provide the musical accompaniment for Cincinnati Ballet in the Ballet’s annual presentation of The Nutcracker.
