The majority of the world has put to rest the holidays – stores have now started getting ready for Valentine’s Day and Saint Patrick’s Day, but for some especially in Spanish/Hispanic countries the Christmas spirit is still being celebrated, Three Kings Day - Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar (El Día de los Reyes Magos).
January 6 is Three King’s Day, a day to remember the arrival of the Biblical Wise Men to Bethlehem with gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh for baby Jesus. For children it’s more important than Christmas, children leave grass near their bed for the camels and in exchange the Three King’s leave gifts for them.
In the US the tradition continues within the Hispanic culture as it is throughout Tampa Bay with traditional meals, parties, parades, and special church services.
Join in celebrating Three Kings Day with your children at Macy's Westfield Citrus Park, 7801 Citrus Park Town Center on Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 p.m. There will be face painting, sweets, music, and a puppet show. The first 50 customers to make a $35 or more purchase in the Kids' department will receive a special gift. And don’t forget your cameras to get a photo with the Three Kings.
