Macklemore & Ryan Lewis climb to number one with "Thrift Shop"

2013 is starting off great for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Their uber catchy song "Thrift Shop" featuring Wanz, dethrones Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" to take the number one spot on the Digital Songs chart, Billboard reports today. The song also rises to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 as well, right behind Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" spends its sixth week at number one. This is the first charted song for them on this particular chart, and a good one at that as it has rose in the ranks quite quickly in the past couple of weeks.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis bring back the comedy edge to rap that was really made famous over a decade ago with the likes of Eminem and his crew D-12. The song, simply about shopping in a thrift shop and the excitement that comes with it, has been abuzz for a couple of months now and it finally has caught fire in the new year.

The song sold 279,000 copies this week, narrowly beating Swift's song by 18,000 copies. Her former number one drops to number two. Will.I.Am & Britney Spears' "Scream & Shout", "Locked Out Of Heaven" and The Lumineers "Ho Hey" follow 3-5 on the digital chart. For a complete list of all things charts, log onto Billboard.
