In the main event of the evening, former UFC light heavyweight champion, (20-4) Lyoto Machida looks for his second victory as a middleweight when he faces former Strikeforce and two-division DREAM title-holder, Gegard Mousasi.

“Mousasi is a complete fighter,” said the third-ranked Brazilian,” [he’s] a tough opponent who has been champion and has a long history in the sport.”

According to UFC Fight Night 36 oddsmakers, “The Dragon” comes into this fight as a -235 money-line favorite to end the Dutchman’s [+185 ML] 4-bout win streak. Mousasi, who’s coming off a 5-month layoff due to injury, will be making his return to the 185-pound division after a long stint at 205 pounds.

“I’ve fought middleweight before and I feel like I’ve had some of my best performances at middleweight,” he said. “In this division I will be stronger, bigger, conditioned, so I believe it’s much better for me and easier to get a title shot.”
