La Maison du Macaron is the first pastry shop to specialize in the production of French macarons in the province of Quebec.
During my first visit to La Maison du Macaron, (located on de la Roche street in Montreal) I felt like a 'kid in a candy store' surrounded by a variety of rainbow coloured macarons. Biting into this delectable confection with its crisp exterior and soft interior was just heavenly.
It was just a matter of time before the owners and pastry chefs, Gaëlle and Johan Crop, co-authored Macaron, a French published cookbook, that shares their passion and recipes of the French Macaron.
Macaron Chapters
The first few chapters focus on the ingredients and equipment required to make the macarons in a home kitchen as well as step-by-step photos demonstrating the techniques to make the French and Italian meringues - the foundation of the macaron.
The rest of the chapters list over 60 macaron recipes showcased by vibrant, stunning photography.
Macaron Recipes
The recipes are divided into categories (sweet, savoury, glazed..), well organized, and easy to follow with chef tips and notes. Each recipe also indicates the level of difficulty.
The chapters below list some of the wonderful recipes found in the book. Gaëlle and Johan have also included a chapter, Macarons du Québec, with recipes using Quebec's local products.
Macarons sucrés (Sweet macarons)
(Macaron caramel et fleur de sel , Macaron chocolat et orange...)
Macarons saisonniers (Seasonal macarons)
(Février: Macacoeur à la rose, ...Août: Macalong lavande....)
Macarons glacés (Glazed macarons)
(Macaron glacé au miel, Macaron glacé rhum et raisin...)

(Mac'Paris-Brest, Mac'profiteroles... )

Macarons du Québec (Quebec Macarons)

What a lovely review. The bowl of colorful Macarons is my favorite. Now I'm hungry!
Thanks Donna!
La Maison du Macaron is a great addition to the Montreal food environment; I've been before but was unaware they had a cookbook-thanks for the info.
