It was a good day for San Diego on Sunday. Mabelynn Capeluj entered the pageant as Miss Greater San Diego USA. Earlier in the day, Miss Greater San Diego Teen USA Cassidy Wolf was crowned Miss California Teen USA.
Capeluj was literally floored by the judges’ decision, with the new titleholder falling to the ground when she was announced as the winner.
The pageant was webcast live on the Internet.
Capeluj was chosen from among more than 200 contestants and will represent California at the Miss USA Pageant.
She is from Huntington Beach, according to her Facebook profile. She has studied at Chapman University.
She was worked as a Wilhelmina model, according to her Twitter profile.
"Wilhelmina Models is one of the most prominent talent management agencies in the world," according to the agency's website. "Since its founding in 1967 by Dutch supermodel Wilhelmina Cooper, Wilhelmina Models has earned its prestigious standing as an industry leader by providing full-spectrum model management for women, men, full-figured, fitness, and children models, as well as entertainers and musicians."
If she wins the Miss USA Pageant, she will represent the United States at the Miss Universe Pageant.
Both the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants are co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal.
