Ever wish that you could go visit Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? The closet real-life equivalent in Orlando is located at the Florida Mall. M&M’s World opened up in 2005, and shortly after in 2006 this Orlando retail store was knighted the “international store of the year” by the Institute of Store Planners. Since its inception both tourists and M&M aficionados alike from all over the world have come to this retail experience to bask in the rainbow of candy and merchandise that’s available in every color.
With a giant red M&M (a great photo opportunity!) at the entrance of the store, visitors walk into this wonderland. Oftentimes there are character greetings with many of the beloved M&Ms one sees in countless TV commercials. Inside there’s M&M-themed merchandise for everyone, no matter what his or her tastes. For example, if you’re a NASCAR fan (and there’s plenty in Florida), there are tons of great souvenirs to purchase. In fact, you can get your picture taken with a full-sized #18 Kyle Bush racecar on display! Other merchandise includes clothing, bags, kitchen and bath decorations, figurines, and of course candy dispensers. You can also discover which M&M color matches your personality by being scanned (free) by the “scientific” Color Mood analyzer.
While at the Florida Mall there are plenty of other fun places to shop and dine, such as Nordstrom, the Apple store, California Pizza Kitchen, A&W restaurant, Cold Stone Creamery, and Dairy Queen. During your Orlando trip you can stay at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center, also located in the mall. If visiting elsewhere on the planet there are also other M&M’s World locations in Las Vegas (the original one), New York City, London, and Henderson, Nevada.
