The historic Town of Eaton is home to the Old Town of Eaton Museum that houses many of the artifacts that relate to the settlement of the town itself. To celebrate the opening of the museum's media room, Messere who is the currator of the museum, will be speaking on Wednesday, August 20th at 7 pm.
The museum has atifacts and information on all of the early families of Eaton that include Morse, Morris, Chubbuck, Finney, Bates, Brown and many more. The past comes to life to give the visitor a taste of the early1790's and shows how the industry of Eaton made it a once booming area.
Messere who has written the book called simply "Eaton"by Arcadia Publishing is the former historian for Madison County and has been a history writer for over 20 years. This however, will be the first time that she has actually delivered a lecture in her own museum even though she frequently speaks around Central New York.
The museum will be celebrating the opening of its new media room that will allow visitors to sit and learn the history of the area in short videos. Messere says, "People always want me to be at the museum to tell them history stories, but in reality I can't be here always, so the videos will do the job and may actually allow young and old to just sit and enjoy as well as to learn."
Rain date is the following Wednesday evening!
The museum is open every Wednesday morning from 10 -12 pm until October and can also be viewed by appointment by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting the museums Facebook page at Old Town of Eaton Museum!
