If you're planning a wedding, you won't want to miss the Lynchburg Bridal Expo. The event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Downtown.

Over 120 brides have already registered for the popular event, but walk-ins are permitted, too. Feel free to bring your groom, mom, maid of honor or another friend with you.

Check out iPhoneNess.com for information about 10 popular iPhone wedding apps. The list of apps includes The Knot Wedding Planner, Wedding Wire, iWedding and more.

Many brides find that using iPhone or iPad apps helps them stay organized and keep up with all of the details involved in wedding planning.

Attending a local wedding planning event can save couples a lot of time. Couples can check out wedding attire, sample food and cakes, learn about venue options, price flowers, plan their honeymoon, and talk with photographers and videographers, all in one location.

The Lynchburg Bridal Expo always has a good turnout of vendors and this weekend's event is no different. Over 60 of the area's top wedding vendors will be on hand to share their products.

Couples who plan to marry in a religious ceremony should consult with their pastor before setting a date and deciding on a venue. For many years, the tradition was for weddings to be held in the bride's church.

Although many couples opt for this tradition, other couples prefer to hold their ceremony in an outdoor setting, a public venue, college campus or another location.

Many of Central Virginia's most popular venues will be represented at the expo, including Tresca on 8th, Winridge Manor, The Bedford Columns, Sweet Briar College and Glencliff Manor.

Some venues offer only all-inclusive packages, while others provide the location and allow brides to choose their own caterer, cake artist and other vendors.

The most popular venues often require a lot of advance planning. Many venues fill up for summer dates 6-12 months in advance.

Those planning an outdoor wedding may consider sites including Smith Mountain Lake, the Peaks of Otter or the Overlook at Riverside Park.

Some couples prefer a destination wedding, held at the beach or a resort location; however, the cost can add up rapidly.

Shopping with your daughter for her wedding gown is a special treat for any mother-of-the-bride. This is an age-old tradition that continues in many families.
