Biblically speaking, "he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." In that regard, perhaps nobody has room to chide Lance for his obvious lascivious lying. Yet, on the other hand, should society just "turn the other cheek" here? Lance's lies have caused grave damages and has slewn egregious slander to so many who, apparently, and even according to Lance himself in his Oprah-interview, were being truthful.
How forgiving will society be to such deceit on such a global scale?
Bill Clinton seems to be weathering his "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" debacle.
Likewise has history been quite kind to "I did not trade arms for hostages," Reagan; and "I am not a crook," Nixon.
But they were US Presidents ... will the nation show such grace for Alex Rodriquez, Pete Rose and now Lance Armstrong?
A lie is a lie is a lie, most will concede.
Of all the allegations the Roman and Jewish potentates slandered against Jesus, none were alleging he was a liar. Biblically, lying is equated to the most serious of crimes or sins -- right up there with murder and more serious than stealing or adultery for "he who loveth to make a lie."
