The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, which reopens for its 2014 summer season on May 24th, is an award-winning, five-star design hotel coupled with an outdoor concert venue space. The intertwining concepts have struck a chord; Ushuaïa has become a playground for celebrities such as Paris and Nicky Hilton, Naomi Campbell and Leonardo DiCaprio and has attracted the most desired DJ’s in the EDM world to perform on its stage.
The architectural design by Ibiza-based Estudio Vila 13 and clean-lined, sculpture-like furnishings by Beltá-Frajumar integrate the divergent elements of this unusual property into a holistic experience that combines a high-energy, world-class venue for open-air afternoon and evening entertainment with elegant accommodations and chic “chill out” spaces to relax. Its innovative work won Estudio Vila 13 the prestigious European Hotel Design Award for Architecture in 2013 for the project.
The hotel’s avant-garde music-inspired design is dominated by the pure white tones that earn Ibiza the nickname “the White Isle.” Stark accents of black and brilliant red are softened by natural earth tones used in flooring and wood furnishings. Playful elements such as the crawling colony of ant sculptures found on the lobby floor and walls and the tongue-in-cheek “rear body frame” chairs punctuate the scene with delightful surprises, creating an electrifying setting.
Just last year, the property unveiled the Ushuaïa Tower. The Ushuaïa Tower will boast an impressive façade adorned with creeping vines and colorful flowers, reflecting the vibrant and playful nature of the Ushuaïa brand. The avant-garde interior will house 181 rooms and suites, many of which come complete with private outdoor Jacuzzis, enabling guests to watch DJs perform at The Ushuaïa Club below while enjoying a cocktail from the luxury of their own tub.
Guests at Ushuaïa will also find that the party can certainly continue in the custom-designed party rooms. The soundproofed Pioneer Suite, outfitted with quality equipment including two Pioneer CDJ 2000 turntables and a Pioneer DJM 2000 mixer, is perfect to keep the music going (and also a celebrity DJ favorite). The Ushuaïa Tower’s Anything Can Happen suites, with a terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi perch, offer a sophisticated way to take in the scene. Those who like to strut their stuff will revel in the Fashion Victim Suite, a room complete with a round bed, rain shower directly located in the middle of the room and mirrors strategically placed on the ceiling and all around so guests can be sure they’re model-perfect at all times. The ultimate space is the 1,786 square foot I’m on Top of the World Suite, the biggest on the island, includes a large outdoor terrace with a Jacuzzi, sunbeds and comfy seating to watch the shows.
