Luscious La Quinta Palm Springs plans festive Chinese New Year’s celebration

For the first time in its long history, the luscious La Quinta Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort in Palm Springs is planning an epic Chinese New Year celebration. The hotel is rolling out the red lanterns for the Year of the Horse beginning Feb. 1, 2014 with a “Package of Good Fortune,” deal that includes accommodations, breakfast for two, a Citrus-inspired welcome amenity and the traditional red enveloped filled with lucky casino dollars.

Guests will also get some shopping coupons for the Desert Hills Premium Outlets to use at chic shops such a Gucci, Versace and Jimmy Choo and an 18 percent discount at The Bungalow Shop and Spa La Quinta Oasis Shop. Also in the perks package are specially-priced bicycle rental ($8 an hour or $28 a day) and a complimentary shuttle service to nearby Fantasy Springs Casino.

As part of its tribute to the lunar year, La Quinta Resort & Club will offer a special evening on Feb. 1 in its outdoor Resort Plaza starting at 5:30 p.m., with a variety of family games and activities, Chinese-influenced cuisine, a colorful dragon parade, an acrobatic performance and fireworks. s and beverage specials and an ongoing video presentation.
