After much speculation that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o was joining the cast of Star Wars, the truth has prevailed.

The 12 Years A Slave actress will be starring in the upcoming Jungle Book remake, coming out in 2015, and is confirmed to be in the new Star Wars film Episode 7.

The movies director JJ Abrams apparently wanted to stray away from A-list celebs for the movie, but has reportedly locked in Zac Efron as well. The Star Wars Wikia site details the actresses new role:

Nyong’o will play a character named Asajj Ventress. Ventress, is a dark Jedi. Ventress was initially taken as a slave but then trained to be a Jedi. When her t trainers was killed Ventress was enraged and turned over to the “dark side,” taking her dead trainer’s lightsaber, killed all the warlords and electing herself as a ruler on the planet Rattatak.
