Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco isn’t considered you ordinary in terms of conventional releases. The conscious emcee has gone against industry norms from the beginning of his career, and has marched to beat of his own drum when it comes to his musical catalog and for this reason alone, you have to admire his braveness in shelling out the best material possible.
Never an individual to bite his tongue for anyone, Lupe, who is on the verge of releasing his conceptual record Tetsuo & Youth later this year, liberated the forthcoming set’s first single “Mission” earlier today on iTunes. Similar to the heap of tracks from his previous LP’s, the rapper steers away from the customary normal radio friendly jingle, and delivers a cut full of meaning, as it conveys a message of hope for Cancer survivors all around the world.
The song, which also features and was produced by hit-maker Soundz, serves as a collaboration with the Stand Up to Cancer organization, and is an ode to those who have been affected by the beast known as Cancer, and will spread awareness and help with funds catered to research dealing with this excruciating illness. If you had anyone lose a life to Cancer, or know anyone currently affected by it, please do yourselves a favor and stream the song below and support it right now. Here’s goes a portion of the press release:
