Luke Bryan is among the first country music stars to be named as a performer at the Billboard Music Awards happening in May. Billboard revealed on April 11 that Luke Bryan is scheduled to perform alongside pop and R&B artists OneRepublic, John Legend, Imagine Dragons and Jason Derulo.

It’s no big surprise that Billboard would invite Luke Bryan to play the show as he is nominated in six categories, twice in one of those. Luke Bryan’s Billboard Music Awards nominations only serve to continue what has been the “Play it Again” singer’s best year to date.

With a string of #1 hits dating back to 2010 including his most recent “Drink A Beer”, which was dedicated to the memory of his late brother and sister, Luke Bryan is finally seeing the pay off from years of hard work. He has been nominated or has won at least 30 awards since 2012, sweeping nine of those wins in the 2012 American Country Awards alone. After a win for ACM Entertainer of the Year in 2013, Luke Bryan’s popularity has multiplied by thousands more fans.

In January of 2014, Luke Bryan played a show at Madison Square Garden, an event that had sold out in five minutes. A second show added for September 12 sold out in similar fashion. CMT reports that Luke Bryan said of the double-sold-out shows, “I’m trying to let it all sink in, but I cannot wait to get there and share my live show with them.”

Luke Bryan’s current album, an EP titled “Spring Break 6: Like We Ain’t Ever” has already been perched upon Billboard’s Top Country Album chart having only just been released on March 11. The rate of speed with which Luke Bryan’s fans latch on to his latest projects and concert announcements is astounding.

It stands to reason that Luke Bryan will also have thousands upon thousands of fans voting for him to win the Billboard’s Milestone Award. The Milestone Award nomination is in addition to Luke Bryan’s six standard category nominations and is subject to online voting. He is in the running with fellow country singer Carrie Underwood as well as fellow Billboard Music Awards performers Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic, and John Legend. Though not yet announced as a performer for the show, Ellie Goulding rounds out the Milestone Award nominees.

Luke Bryan is also nominated for Top Billboard 200 Album, Billboard 200 Artist, Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Country Album, and Country Song twice with “Crash My Party” and “That’s My Kind of Night.”

Luke Bryan fans can tune into the Billboard Music Awards on May 18 on ABC. The show airs live from Las Vegas beginning at 7:00 Central.
