In today's installment of the Smash Bros picture of the day, game director Masahiro Sakurai unveiled a new move for the hero in green.
Luigi will get his trademark vacuum cleaner, the Poltergust, as a new Final Smash. It's still up for debate what exactly the attack will do, but Sakurai did provide fans with some insight.
"Luigi might be thinking, "Who would've thought I'd get to show off the Poltergust in Super Smash Bros.?!" Wondering if it's going to suck something in? Yeah, it probably will."
The Poltergust made its debut way back in 2001 with the Gamecube launch title, Luigi's Mansion. The item made some minor appearances in games such as Mario Power Tennis and Mario Kart DS since then. It got its chance to shine once again however with the 2013 release of the Luigi's Mansion sequel, titled Dark Moon.
An unfortunate side-effect of the newly announced Final Smash is that the old one will be no more. Luigi's old move, the Negative Zone, was an incredibly funky attack that was as useful as it was weird. That being said it is also good to see that Sakurai is open to changing things up a bit this time around.
One thing this announcement also assured was that the month of March would not show Smash Bros. fans a character addition. This is the first month in a long while that we have not seen an addition to the roster.
