Atlanta rapper and actor Ludacris will be adding reality television to his resume. He will join Brad Paisley, Josh Groban and Kesha as a judge on the new singing competition show Rising Star. The show will air on ABC starting June 22 at 9pm.

Rising Star will be different from other singing competition shows. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that competitors will get their scores in real time and have the results almost instantly. The audience will vote via an app instead of calling in their votes. Per Deadline the competitors are separated from the audience and judges while they perform and will see their scores on an LED screen.

Rising Star is being produced by Keshet and Dick Clark Productions. Producers held auditions in cities around the country earlier this spring. 60 acts got call backs. This is ABC's second shot at a singing competition. Duets had one season in 2012.

Ludacris (real name Christopher Bridges) is a natural for this show. He did a fantastic job hosting the Billboard Music Awards on May 18. Ludacris was engaging and thinks on his feet. He is also a seasoned actor and a live performer. Ludacris is currently filming Fast and Furious 7 and will drop his 8th studio album Ludaville this fall.
