Last week the VEISHEA committee at Iowa State University in Ames announced the entertainment for the 2014 VEISHEA celebration, which will be held the week of April 7 through April 13. The annual celebration "serves as a showcase and display of the Iowa State community with a wide variety of educational and entertainment events" according to the event's FAQs. While the purpose is to show off the university's Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Industrial Science, Home Economics, and Agriculture departments, the celebration always brings good entertainment to town for ISU's alumni and students to enjoy. (You have to be a student or alumni to purchase tickets.) This year's lineup is a particularly good one, especially if you are a fan of country or hip-hop music. Here is a look:
Thursday, April 10
Cyclone Idol: ISU's version of American Idol, hosted this year by country musician Kristian Bush of Sugarland.
Friday, April 11
Musical performances by Timeflies (Pop/R&B), Andy Grammer (Pop/Rock), American Idol: Season 7 winner David Cook (Rock), Down With Webster (Hip-Hop/Rock), Paradise Fears (Pop/Rock), and Luke Christopher (Rap).
Saturday, April 12
Musical performances by VEISHEA headliner and 3-time Grammy winner Ludacris (Rap), Twenty One Pilots (indie Electronic/Hip-Hop), Cris Cab (Hip-Hop/Reggae), The Voice: Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope (Country/Pop), Britney's little sister Jamie Lynn Spears (Country/Pop), and Sara Haze (Country/Pop).
Tickets for Friday and Saturday's events may be purchased through the ISU Alumni Office for $20 per night or $25 for both nights. For more information, check out the VEISHEA website.
